I've been eating chicken wings on a regular basis for the last couple of years. It started when me and a few of my pals would get together for a "Tuesday Two-fer" at a wings place and we'd have a few beers, a plate of wings and make inappropriate comments about the wait staff. Good times. Now that I'm traveling a lot, I still try and have my wings with my pals, in spirit. This Tuesday brought me to True Blue's. From the outside, it looks like a dive bar. On the inside, it looks like a dive bar. I think that makes it a dive bar? I siddled up to the bar, ordered a beer (Blue Moon was the best choice, otherwise it was water... I mean, Bud Light) while reviewing the menu. 20 wings sounds good, in two flavors. When the wings arrived, they were grilled. I've never had *grilled* wings before. Usually, they're fried and then sauced. A big difference, they tasted very different and very good. Still fatty, as they are wings, but not nearly as greasy as the ones that come from a fry-o-later. The grilling also brought out the flavor of the "hot" sauce so that they didn't taste just like fire but like wings with some Tabasco flavoring. Really good. Service was meh, but so what. The beer was cold, the wings were hot, and my tummy is full. Possibly the best wings I had during my time in Charleston. Sort-of-outside seating looked nice.

I wanted wings and so we went on a Wednesday night. We were so happy to find that they were hosting Bingo, and free to play! Wednesday means $5 cheeseburgers and Debbie's Special, which was brownie sundaes for desert. After my long stressful day, I felt like I was at summer camp! The burgers are decent, the homemade chips are great and the wings are amazing. Everyone there seems local and if you are not a regular, they treat you like you are. This is the best of Mount Pleasant, and Charleston for the matter, untouched by time. When so much of Charleston is all about being the most quaint tourist trap of all time, Blue's just serves the locals and keeps us happy.

The wings here are the best. They actually infuse the sauce into the wings by the way they make them. The bartender was very very good and was always there when we wanted something.

I've been in here at least a dozen times. This place has WAY better than average bar food. Everything's made fresh! There's often live music and on one Thursday night a month they have a songwriters night featuring local songwriters and musicians. It just doesn't get any better than that! The wait and bar staff are so friendly! Don't be surprised if one of the owners comes and pulls up a chair for a chat. This is a great "local joint" not a tourist trap.

Small bar over in Mt P. For me, they have some of the better wings in the Greater Charleston area. They don't serve wings in the traditional fried manner, they only grill their wings. The wings have a great smokey flavor from the grill with the sauce getting a nice caramelization. They have a great selection of flavor's but I like their hot teryiaki. I wish they had a better beer selection, but with such a small barI can let that slide. One of these days I will go there and not get their wings, their burgers looked tasty.

Let's make this clear quickly, it's a dive bar. Next, I prefer dive bars. That said this place is supposedly all about the wings, so....wings it was. I had the medium terriake and they were good. Mind you they are grilled and histoicly that doesn't work but they do it quite well here. Service was on par for the environment, can't complain there. I need to check this place out on a Sunday as it appears it's a big football local place. So in all fairness this was a positive experience and I think another visit is warranted. The owner is running around working his tail off, gotta respect that. So, give it a try and know what your going into early so your not disappointed.

Came in after walking the bridge, so dressy attire is not an issue here. Dive bar. Pretty big place actually. Had some live singing action going on, he wasnt bad. They have tables, booths and of course the bar area. Small wood dance floor as well. We sat at the end of the bar. Bartenders are awesome friendly and helpful with whatever you are trying to zero in on to eat. That it turns out is very helpful when you cant make a decision (as I am from time to time). They have kids menu - but they dont care what age you - and it even says that on the menu! LOL thought that was awesome. Was told that the wings were awesome, and the fried green beans (didnt try them, but definitely going to next time). We got the bacon cheeseburger and home made chips - split between 2. and it was more than enough food. At one point I was close to finishing my half and thought to myself "damn that was a freaking awesome burger, i should have gotten the whole thing for myself" but it was more because the burger was delicious than the fact that i was still hungry. Another patron sitting next to us, said "they push the wings here, but the burgers are what everyone loves". I can totally see why. You can choose the grade you want it cooked, and it comes totally loaded, no extra cost for a tomato or anything silly like some places. The have just about everything on the menu you could want, sandwiches, philly cheesesteaks, burgers, chicken fingers. As the bartender told us, they specialize in comfort foods. Who doesnt love that??? :) Wine selection is not the best. We got a bucket of miller lite, and it only came with 5 beers. When we asked the bartender about it, she told us that their buckets only come with 4 beers. you get the 5th for free. That gave us a chuckle. Even so, I really liked the place. The atmosphere, other patrons, music and food made it worth coming back again soon. (I really want to try those fried green beans!!!)

This review is for True Blue's on Johnnie Dodds/Hwy 17. This was our third or fourth Saturday night visit since the beginning of summer. I don't know if or how this one is connected to the other Blue's but, like the other one, this one also grills their wings to a smoky perfection. It is unlike the wings I've had at any other place in Charleston. Beyond the smoke, the wings are very flavorful. The cajun/bbq wings, in particular, had a nice, tangy kick. Also awesome -- and relatively unique -- are the deep-fried green beans; a lighter and tasty, if not truly healthier, alternative to french fries. They are great for dipping with either ranch or bleu cheese. If you want some great (both true and ironic) entertainment on the cheap, it's hard to beat the Saturday night karaoke sessions. If the singing isn't doing it for you, there are numerous TVs around -- including one at each booth -- to keep you distracted. If you're still not having a good time, you haven't had enough $2.00 jello shots -- which are a lot better than they sound. Those of you who need tobacco fixes can hang out back in the covered deck, where there is also at least one TV. The beer list is pretty standard; just enough for everyone to find something suitable. Don't come here looking for the latest triple-hop explosion microbrew. If you're any kind of serious wine drinker, let's just say you should know better. However, they do have a full bar and the folks behind it know how to make serious drinks. But be reasonable; there is a time and place for in-house flavored syrups and rare liquor cocktails. This ain't the time. The patrons are unpretentious. Say hi and make a new friend. The singers are sincere; some have very impressive talent, others simply don't. Cheer them on, either way. The servers are attentive and cheerful. Tip generously.

Showed up on a Monday and it was 10 wings for $5. Fresh and tasty. Wife had a bacon cheeseburger that was fresh and more than enough for her. (Wednesday is burger night for $5. ) Service was slow but attentive as we came in at the end of the dinner rush. TV's in all the booths made the time pass easier for the kids. Definitely a dive bar but one with good food, friendly service, and enough distractions that we never felt bored. (Our 8 year old gave the chicken tenders an A+)

Karaoke! Wings had their own buffalo flavor, like a smoky chipotle flavor glaze and they grill em but they arent dry, theyre still moist and finish with a unique twist on Chipotle BBQ mixed with Buffalo. Sweet potato fries wer good too
